Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Somerset Local handles when you visit somersetlocal.lovable.app, and the choices you have. It was last revised October 26, 2026.

Who we are

Somerset Local is a community directory built by local businesses and the Somerset Business Coalition. You can reach us at info@somersetlocal.org or by mail at Somerset Local, 19770 Somerset Rd Ste 1, Somerset, TX 78069.

What we handle

Hosting, security and error logs. Like most websites, our hosting and security providers process technical information when your browser loads pages, such as your IP address, browser type and requested pages, to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix errors.

Email inquiries. If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message so we can respond. Email links on this site open your own email app; nothing is sent until you choose to send it.

Published business information. The directory shows business names, categories, addresses, phone numbers and website links that businesses have made public.

Your privacy preferences. If you make a choice about optional services, we store that choice, a timestamp and your map preference in your browser's local storage for 180 days. This stays on your device.

Optional Google Maps

The interactive map is optional and off by default. If you accept it, your browser loads Google Maps and our server looks up business coordinates through Google, which shares technical information such as your IP address with Google. Google's own terms and privacy policy apply to that service. The text directory, directions links and phone links work whether or not you allow the map. You can change this choice any time under Privacy choices or the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

Platform visitor analytics

Our hosting platform (Lovable) loads its own scripts on every page of the published site to count visits. According to the platform's documentation, this measures things like page views, visit duration, traffic sources, countries and device types using a random identifier that is discarded when each visit ends; it sets no cookies or browser storage and does not build profiles across visits. We have not independently verified these internals.

This is not controlled by the consent choices on this site. Accepting or rejecting optional services here affects Google Maps only. The platform's visit counting is an on/off setting in the site's hosting configuration (Project settings > General > Publishing > Visitor analytics), which only the site operator can change. We are reviewing whether to keep it enabled.

What we do not do

Somerset Local is not configured to sell visitor information, run targeted advertising, or profile you in ways that have legal significance. Beyond the hosting platform's visit counting described above, we do not run our own analytics tracker, an advertising pixel, a newsletter, a checkout, account registration or an SMS program. This describes how this site is configured; it is not a guarantee about third parties that act independently, such as the hosting platform, Google when you choose to load the map, or businesses you contact through their own links.

Service providers

We rely on categories of service providers to run the site: website hosting and content delivery, security and error reporting, and (optionally) Google Maps Platform for maps and business locations. These providers process information to provide their services to us.

How long information is kept

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal obligations. We are still reviewing the exact retention periods our hosting and security providers apply to their logs, so we do not state specific periods here.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live and whether a law's conditions and exemptions apply, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. To make a request, email info@somersetlocal.org or write to Somerset Local, 19770 Somerset Rd Ste 1, Somerset, TX 78069. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and some requests may be limited by law. Some information, such as records held independently by listed businesses or by Google, is not ours to delete; you would need to contact those parties directly.

If we decline your request and the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act applies, you may appeal by emailing or writing to us with the subject "Privacy appeal." We will respond to appeals within the period the law requires. You can also raise concerns with the Texas Attorney General through its Texas Data Privacy and Security Act resource.

Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a choice to keep optional third-party loading off by default, and we tell you we detected it. Because this site is not configured to sell data or run targeted advertising, no separate opt-out workflow is needed today; any future integration must honor this signal.

Listings link to business websites, Google profiles and directions. Clicking those links takes you to another provider, whose own terms and privacy policy apply.

Children

This site is a general community directory. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect their information through forms.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the revision date above.
