What this site itself stores
Somerset Local does not set tracking cookies. The one thing this site stores is your privacy preference, kept in your browser's local storage — not a tracking cookie: a versioned record of your choice, the time you made it, and whether you allowed the optional Google map. It expires after 180 days, after which we ask again. This record stays on your device and is not sent to us as a profile of you.
Optional Google Maps
The interactive map is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, Google Maps loads from Google's servers, and Google may use cookies and similar technologies on its own domains and receive browser details from your device, under Google's cookie policy. Turning the map off here stops future loading and reloads the page to unload Google's scripts, but it cannot erase cookies Google already set on Google domains. You can clear those in your browser settings, and Google offers its own privacy controls.
Platform visitor analytics
Our hosting platform (Lovable) loads its own scripts on every page of the published site to count visits. Per the platform's documentation, this uses a random per-visit identifier and sets no cookies or browser storage. These scripts are not covered by the preference controls on this site — they load regardless of your choice here — and can only be turned off in the site's hosting configuration by the operator. We have not independently verified the platform's internals.
Advertising
This site does not run advertising or ad pixels, so there are no advertising cookies to accept or reject. If that changes, this notice and the preference controls will be updated first.
